Trampolines are a Family Activity

Looking for a fun way to exercise and stay healthy? Even if you've got no ambitions to become a tumbling superstar, though, the health and fun benefits of having a trampoline in your yard/garden are clear.  Doctors say that trampolining is one of the healthiest, safest kinds of exercise for your joints and heart. It's aerobic, it's fun, and it doesn't put the same stress on your joints and tendons that impact exercise like jogging does.

Water Trampolines Allow you to take Bigger Jumps

Bring a water trampoline to the cottage!  Water trampolines are affordable and easily trasnportable in the trunk of your car.

Water trampolines have frames with springs that are supported on top of a large round inflatable tube. Theycan have a diameter as large as 25 feet as small as 11 feet. These full water trampolines offer similar performance to that of a small backyard trampoline, but allow the activity to take place on the water. Water trampolines take about an hour to set up and break down. They can then be anchored to remain in place on most lakes and ponds.

A trampoline floating on the water allows you to take big air jumps. An ideal water trampoline, with 100% PVC construction, should be able to withstand variation in temperature. A water trampoline comes with handles, a ladder and a padded collar for easier boarding and safe jumping. An anchor rope keeps the station in place while still letting it shift in the waves for added excitement.

Trampolining is a recognized Olympic sport, and was one of the official gymnastics events of the 2000 Olympics. It has been an official competitive sport since 1947, though it wasn't recognized as one in the United States until 1967. Among the events that are held in official competitive trampolining and tumbling are Synchronized Trampoline in which two athletes perform identical routines on two trampolines, and the double mini-trampoline, in which one athlete performs on two mini-trampolines set at two different levels. Just think - a trampoline for your yard or garden can be great for, and can even start your family off on the road to competitive success!   ... [ More ]

Trampolining- The Basics

When you first start trampolining, many coaches like to start you off with some straight bounces- in other words, you simply bounce up and down! Then, as you can control you’re bouncing more, they will teach you to stop!

Stopping your bouncing- commonly referred to as ‘killing the bounce’ is done by bending the legs at the bottom of the bounce and this causes you to, obviously, stop! Being able to ‘kill your bounce’ is very important, although it seems rather simple! – You need to be able to stop immediately when you stray from the middle of the trampoline, as if you don’t, it can lead to accidents. And we don’t want those!

Game Ideas

There are an endless assortment of activities your family can try while bouncing on a water trampoline.  Here are just a few:

Water Trampoline Dodgeball

Stand around the water trampoline and try to strike members in the middle with  a bouncy ball.  If you strike them, move them to the outside.  Last man standing wins!

Pass-the-ball

Try to pass each other the ball while bouncing up and down.  Force your opponent to drop the ball and you get a point!

Biggest Cannonball

On a water trampoline, you can use the trampoline itself as a diving platform.  Jump as high as you can and land the biggest cannonball possible.

Trick jumps

Compete with your friends to try to complete crazy mid-air stunts.

Jump for joy!

Some of the most basic moves you learn to do on a trampoline (and the ones which surprisingly enough, you are taught first!) are:

  • Tuck Jump
  • Pike Jump
  • Straddle Jump
  • Seat Drop
  • 1/2 and Full Twist
  • Front Drop
  • Back Drop

Benefits of Trampolining for Young Children

A child does the majority of his/her learning before he/she completes early grade school.  Why not give them a head start?  A trampoline can help your child:

  • Maintain physical fitness levels.
  • Obtain better Balance.
  • Understand Rhythm.
  • Improve their coordination.
  • Provide them with motivation, courage and self-confidence.

Trampolining is a fun and affordable activity to encourage your child to become more physically active. Children use their imagination to invent new games to play by themselves or with their friends.

Trampoline Safety Tips

  1. DO NOT attempt somersaults. Landing on your head or neck can cause serious injury, paralysis, or death, even when landing in the middle of the bed.
  2. Use trampoline only with mature, knowledgeable supervision.
  3. Inspect the trampoline before each use. Make sure the frame padding is correctly and securely positioned. Replace any worn, defective or missing parts.
  4. Stop your bounce by flexing your knees as your feet come in contact with the trampoline bed. Learn this skill before attempting others.
  5. Learn fundamental bounces and body positions thoroughly before trying more advanced skills. A variety of trampoline activities can be carried out by performing the basic fundamentals in various series and combinations, performing one fundamental after another, with or without feet bounces between them.
  6. Keep objects away which could interfere with the performer. Maintain a clear area around the trampoline at all times.
  7. Do not use the trampoline while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  8. Read all instructions before using the trampoline. Warnings and instructions for the care, maintenance and use of trampolines are included to promote safe, enjoyable use of the equipment.
